BAPTISMS, WEDDINGS & FUNERALS
At St. David's, we mark the significant moments of our lives with prayer, Scripture, and the presence of our community. New beginnings, lifelong commitments, and final farewells all find a home here. We consider it a privilege to walk alongside you in each of these moments.
BAPTISM
Baptism is initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ. It is the moment we are welcomed into the family of God and the community of the Church. We offer baptism several times a year during at our Sunday services. Baptism is especially appropriate on these occasions:
Other Sundays outside these four dates may be permitted as long as they work with the church calendar.
In preparation for Baptism, whether adult baptism or baptism of a child, the family of the baptismal candidate meet with the Rector to discuss the sacrament of Baptism. When an infant or young child is baptized, parents and godparents make promises on their behalf, committing to raise the child in the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ, at home and in the church. All those being baptized must have at least one sponsor (commonly called a godparent for children).
To set up a conversation about baptism class or to learn more about what baptism means, contact the church office or reach out to the Father Brian.
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is the rite by which those baptized as infants, or adults who are ready, take on the promises of the Baptismal Covenant for themselves, with the laying on of hands by the Bishop.
Confirmation is offered once a year, typically in the spring, during the Bishop's visits to St. David's. It is open to adults and to youth in 8th grade and older. On Confirmation Sundays, those confirmed in other Christian traditions may also be received into the Episcopal Church.
Confirmation classes, one for adults and one for Youth, are offered each spring. For more information, contact the Father Brian or Mary Hayden Manning.
WEDDINGS
Marriage at St. David's is a celebration of love, commitment, and God's blessing on a couple's life together. To be married at St. David's, at least one member of the couple must be a baptized Christian. All couples are required to complete our Marriage Preparation course, which includes reading, a
pre-marriage inventory, and four meetings with one of our clergy.
Our wedding coordinators, Mary Hayden Manning and Rachel Willcox, are here to help guide you through the planning process.
For information about wedding policies, fees, and scheduling, please contact the church office.
FUNERALS
Episcopal funerals are filled with Scripture and surrounded by the hope of the Resurrection. Our burial liturgy offers powerful, comforting words for a time of grief, pointing always to the great promise we have in Jesus Christ.
Our altar guild, music staff, and clergy are committed to walking alongside families through the difficult days following a loved one's death. We are honored to help you honor those you love.
For information about funerals or advance funeral planning, please contact Father Brian, or call the church office.
If a family member or friend is near death, please notify a member of the clergy as soon as possible.
